What is your name/pen name?

Hope Parker

How did you decide on the idea for your femdom control anthology story?

I knew I wasn’t as knowledgeable about kink as some of the other erotica authors so I treated my story like a scene from one of my books. The story is like an epilogue. After the happily-ever-after, the couple takes time out of their busy lives to relax and enjoy their favorite bedroom dynamic.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this story for the anthology?

It was my first time writing female domination, which was a bit of a challenge. But once I got into the headspace, it ended up being a lot of fun to switch up my usual BDSM stories (I typically write male dominants).

Why did you choose to write erotica?

My anthology story is actually my first attempt at erotica. I’m an erotic romance author and typically write romance novels.

What other things have you written/authored?

Other than my romance novel mentioned above, I’ve also written book two and three of the series, which center around other dominants at the BDSM club Atlas manages. Book two, Rhythm of the Rain, will be out early next year. It follows Sam, Atlas’ best friend, as he relearns who he is as a dominant in the aftermath of a car accident that forces him to adapt to a new normal.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing seriously for the past two years. Being an author has always been a dream of mine but it wasn’t until I pursued a master’s degree in creative writing that I really tried to get my work polished and ready to publish.

What is your definition of success as a writer/author?

Having a steady readership and being able to write 2-3 novels per year that resonate with my audience. Ideally, I’d like writing to be my main source of income.

Describe a typical writing session for you.

I’m a living room writer. I do have an office but don’t use unless my family is home and I need the privacy. My goal is to write between 700-1000 words per day and I spread it out throughout the day. I leave myself a note in the manuscript about where I left off and where the story is going, check my rough outline, and get writing from there. I typically end up meeting my goal within two thirty-minute sessions.

Do you develop characters or plot first?

Character. If I have the characters fleshed out, I usually get a good idea of the conflict that would befall them. The plot works itself out from there.

What are you working on now?

I’m in between projects right now. I finished the Unbound series and am debating on what novel to start next. I’ve been playing around with an age-gap romance that I’m having fun planning and writing so I may end up writing that story next.

Do you have a favorite character/story/book that you have created?

My first novel, Atlas Calling, was released in September and I spent two years thinking about and writing Atlas’ story. Right now, he’s probably my favorite. I loved writing his story. He’s a professor who manages a BDSM club part-time and is grieving the loss of his late fiancée. When he meets a woman on one of the club’s open house nights, he offers to teach her the ropes of kink to make up for the terrible date she had at the open house.

Which authors do you admire?

There are quite a few but right now I appreciate seeing the success of some of my favorite indie and hybrid-publisher authors. Katee Robert, Fiona Cole, Elle Thorpe, Jamie Schlosser, and Brianna Hale are a few that come to mind first.

What are your short-term writing goals?

Short-term I’d like to sell 50 copies of my book this year (almost there, I’m at 43), keep working with my publisher to get my second book released, and finish final edits on my third book so I can send it to my publisher.

What are your long-term writing goals?

To sell 1,000 copies of one of my books, have an ARC group of fifteen to twenty people that consistently want to read an advance copy of my new book to review it before publication, and to work out a release schedule so that I can release at least three books per year.

What genres do you like to read?

I’m a huge thriller fan. I love domestic and psychological thrillers. They are my go-to relaxation reads. But I also love romance and most of its subgenres.

What are some of your non-writing hobbies and/or interests?

Horses were my first passion. I currently foster a horse and donkey for a local rescue and live on a small hobby farm. Whenever I’m not writing, I like to get outside and spend time with my animals.
